What Do Physicians Say?
Dr. Tretti Clementoni
"I am treating traumatic scars with UltraPulse® and find the results exceptionally rewarding... Range of motion and contraction both improve immediately after the first procedure. Since new collagen deposition has started, results continue to improve over time. We experience both immediate and long-term improvement."
Dr. Gerd Gauglitz
"The UltraPulse SCAAR FX is the only laser in the world that is so effective for burn scars."
Dr. Gerd Gauglitz
"Scar improvement and skin resurfacing are amazing with my UltraPulse."
Dr. Gerd Kautz
"For years we believed nothing could be done for heavy traumatic scars, but seeing them now with such improved mobility and texture after treatment with the UltraPulse is the happiest thing a doctor could wish for."
What Is It?
The latest Technology For Scar Treatment

SCAAR FX™ is a new minimally-invasive laser based treatment alternative, offering amazing improvement in severe scars. SCAAR FX™ is a deep fractional resurfacing solution offered as part of the Lumenis UltraPulse® system.

With SCAAR FX™ your physician can offer you an effective treatment regime that may address the tone and texture of your scars, as well as their pliability and the pain and itching.

Is it right for me?

Lumenis® CO2 laser procedures are not suitable for everyone, for example patients who have taken Accutane® (Isotretinoin) within
the past 6-12 months, or had a history of keloid formation. Risks may include change of pigmentation, infection, redness, textural changes or scarring. Be sure to consult your physician regarding treatment options available and related contraindications and risks based on your individual concerns and medical history, before choosing a treatment.

What Should I Expect?
When Will I See Results?

SCAAR FX™ can penetrate deeper than most common lasers. Therefore, amazing results may be achieved relatively quickly and in a minimlly-invasive manner. A major improvement in pliability is often achieved after the first treatment.

Depending on the characteristics of the scar, it may take 3-5 treatments to achieve major cosmetic and functional improvements. Typically, you should expect to continue to see improvement for up to 18 months following the last procedure.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

Immediately following treatment, your skin will be warm, red and swollen to varying degrees, depending on your customized treatment settings. Most patients are able to resume their daily activities within a week.

To support you in the healing process, a daily skincare routine should be prescribed and dressings should possibly be applied to protect the treated area.

How Does It Work?
SCAAR FX™ Technology

Scars are rigid, fibrous formations of skin, resulting from the body’s natural healing response following injury or trauma. The Lumenis® fractional laser creates microscopic channels that break down the rigid fibers in the scar and trigger the production of new collagen and elastic fibers, while leaving some unaffected skin in between the channels to reduce healing time. The result is deep dermal regeneration that dramatically improves the elasticity and appearance of your scar.

The unique power and precision of Lumenis® technology enables your physician to customize treatments for your specific scar, with optimal healing time.

The Treatment

To minimize discomfort during treatments, a local anesthetic should be applied to numb your skin. Depending on the treatment area, you can expect the session to last from a few minutes for a small surgical scar, to 20-30 minutes for a larger scar and up to one hour for very large areas.

During the treatment you may feel a warm and slightly stinging sensation as the laser is applied. In some cases, depending on the severity and characteristics of the scar, some pain might be unavoidable.
